Silent Disco
Silent Disco is a music event hosted by Associated Students at San Jose State University. It's a free event geared to help students relieve some final exam stress and anxiety during finals week. Also, this was a chance to enjoy some good ole disco music, show off their dance moves, and take a break from studying.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
The task was to create a brand identity for the campaign to encourage students to participate and ultimately relieve stress and anxiety. The challenge was that the client wanted dancing school supplies incorporated into the graphics. She also wanted the overall look to be fun, inviting, and calming.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Associated of America,
over 80 percent of students experience stress at some point in the semester, with the majority blaming finals as
their biggest stressor."

SOLUTION
At first, I had a challenge incorporating school supplies in the design, and also making them dance is another difficulty because the graphic can quickly look tacky. But I decided to embrace the challenge and create a narrative. I wanted the dancing school supplies to act as students and that they're also
experiencing stress.
I began to think, "What would these
school supplies look like when they stopped to take a break from studying
and participate in Silent Disco?" So I began to develop these dancing school supply characters as the main visual for the campaign. I wanted these characters
to be lively, dancing, and having fun.
COLOR PALETTE
As for the background color, I wanted a calming color. I didn't want to use or refrain from using saturated colors because I wanted the overall look to be fun and inviting. I used pastels because it was a spring event, so I thought it was very fitting to choose pastel colors because of their calming effect, but it also made other design elements on the poster pop.
TYPEFACES

I picked Phosphate as my primary font for the headline because it was bold and geometric. I thought it made the title "silent disco" pop on the page and made an excellent wordmark. I chose Anisette as my secondary font for its geometric letterforms, and it compliments Phosphate well.
